Nagelsmann Excludes Füllkrug from Germany's World Cup Squad

Wednesday 20-05-2026
German press reports revealed that coach Julian Nagelsmann has decided not to call up Niclas Füllkrug to the German national team squad for the upcoming World Cup, despite the important role the veteran striker played during the recent European Championship held in Germany.

According to the information, Füllkrug was considered until recently one of the top offensive options in Nagelsmann's plans, especially after excelling as a "trump card" during the Euros. He also scored 14 goals in 24 international matches with the German national team. The striker is currently on loan with AC Milan.

The report indicated that the coaching staff was planning to rely on a single out-and-out striker in the final squad, with the competition being between Füllkrug and Tim Kleindienst, before the decision ultimately leaned towards excluding the Milan striker.

On the other hand, Kai Havertz, Deniz Undav, and Nick Woltemade have secured their positions in the forward line of the German national team, while there is still one final attacking spot that has not been definitively decided yet.
