Al-Zawraa Misses Louay Salah Before Facing Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya

Tuesday 19-05-2026
Al-Zawraa Club will officially miss the services of its coach Louay Salah in tomorrow's match against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, as part of the 36th round of the Iraqi Stars League, after he received a red card in the previous round's match against Al-Qasim.

The referee showed the red card to Salah during the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, thus missing the chance to lead the team from the sidelines in one of the most important matches of the season.

Salah's absence comes at a time when Al-Zawraa cannot afford any shortfall, as the team is heading into the Iraqi Clasico against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, and the match carries implications beyond the three points.

Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya enters the match with a chance to secure the title, while Al-Zawraa is fighting to secure fourth place and ensure international participation, as well as seeking to redeem themselves after losing the first leg 2-0.

In such encounters, the coach’s role from the sidelines is crucial in reading the match and making quick adjustments, and Salah’s absence places the team in an additional mental and tactical test.

Louay Salah was strongly present in the last press conference, showing great confidence in his players and their ability to deliver a great match despite the absences. However, he will now watch the match from the stands and leave the task of managing the game to the assistant technical staff.

The team has suffered this season from losing many points due to poor concentration in critical minutes, as Salah himself pointed out in his recent statements.

Now with his absence, the responsibility to maintain tactical discipline falls on the players on the field and on his assistant who will temporarily manage the match.

Al-Zawraa understands that any mental lapse against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya will cost them dearly, especially as the Falcons have a double motivation to secure the title in front of the audience.

Despite the absence, Salah's message to his players was clear in the press conference: "Our players must be up to the responsibility and present an honorable image worthy of Al-Zawraa."

This phrase might be the biggest motivator for players to enter the match with the mentality of fighting for every ball, and to prove that the team is capable of delivering the required performance even in the absence of their coach.
