Barcelona Player's Behavior Causes World Cup Absence

Tuesday 19-05-2026
The Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" revealed that Barcelona player Roni Bardghji was excluded from the Swedish national team squad for the 2026 World Cup due to behavior deemed "unacceptable" by the coaching staff during the camp.

According to the report, Bardagji, who is of Syrian origin, was present on the national team roster during the international break last March, but he did not play a single minute. After the camp ended, the player requested explanations from the coaching staff regarding the reasons for his exclusion from the matches, and he was informed that the decision was purely technical.

The newspaper added that the player showed clear annoyance during the dinner celebrating the national team's qualification for the World Cup. He appeared angry towards his teammates and did not engage with the festive atmosphere, which displeased the English coach Graham Potter, who felt that the player was thinking only of himself instead of the group's interests.

The report indicated that Potter prefers to maintain a cohesive atmosphere within the team and excellent relationships among the 26 players. He believes that talent alone is not enough to participate in a tournament as significant as the World Cup. Therefore, he decided not to call up Bardghji due to his current mindset, despite being considered one of the most promising talents in Sweden.
