Monday 18-05-2026
The Spanish club Real Madrid has finalized its agreement with the Portuguese coach José Mourinho to take over the leadership of the first football team starting from the next season, in a move that brings the 'Special One' back to Santiago Bernabéu after years of absence.

According to the reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, the contract will initially be for two years, with a plan to extend it until 2028 if the technical project proceeds as expected.

Mourinho returns to Real Madrid after 13 years of departure, having previously led the team from 2010 to 2013, during which he succeeded in winning the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

Romano explained that Real Madrid's management has reached a full verbal agreement with the Portuguese coach on all terms of the contract, with only the official signing of the contracts remaining, paving the way for the official announcement of the deal following the team's last league match.

Mourinho is scheduled to head to Madrid next week in preparation for the start of his new era, to be presented in a joint press conference with the club's president Florentino Pérez, to announce the details of his anticipated return to lead the royal team.
