Arbeloa: The Bilbao Match Will Be a Farewell Day for Some Players, and Happy with the Three Points
Álvaro Arbeloa, the coach of Real Madrid, appeared before the media in the press conference room at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium after the 1-0 victory over Sevilla in the 37th round of the Spanish League.
The Real Madrid coach said, "The Sevilla bench was very comfortable. I believe that the team, in such a difficult stadium and against a great team, played a serious match. The players knew very well what was required of them, and I think we controlled the game the whole time. Therefore, I am very happy with the three points."
Regarding the last match of the season against Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabéu, he said: "We will see what happens. I don't know if they will change the match date or not. I also don't know the situation with Athletic Bilbao and whether there is a possibility of multiple draws. If the date is changed, we will wait to know the new day to organize the week, and based on the date, we will determine the training sessions and also see which players are available, as some left the match experiencing physical discomfort. It's the last match, and it might also be a farewell day for some players. We have to try to deliver a great match in front of our fans and enjoy every minute in this jersey, and I will do so as well."
Regarding Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, he said: "I am very satisfied with all my players and the effort they have put in. We are fully aware that we have not achieved the goals we set for ourselves, and we always want to improve. I have been here for four months, and I believe both have tried to give their best, each in their own way and amidst their own challenges."
He continued: "It has been four difficult months for everyone, including them, but I believe they are players any team in the world would wish for. They are among the top five most influential and decisive players globally, and Real Madrid is fortunate to have them. Today, it was Vinicius' turn to score a goal, while Mbappe did a great job, and it's unfortunate he didn't score as well. We hope he will be luckier next week."
Regarding the players who are suffering from injuries or discomfort, he explained: "Vinicius left feeling some discomfort. Aurélien Tchouaméni also wasn't at his best today. Dean Housen was dealing with a bruise. We'll see how the week goes and whether we can get them back before the end of the week. If not, you know the academy is always capable of helping us, as it did today with Leiva, who played his first match here in Seville. A new player joins, and he should be congratulated, as well as the academy for the great work they are doing."
Regarding Fran Garcia, Dean Houcen, Thiago, and Dani Carvajal, he said: "They all played well, and they are four great players. Real Madrid has always been distinguished by having the best Spanish players, and in this case, what can I say? Dean had a great match, and Carvajal played another 90 minutes at a very high level and delivered a serious performance. Thiago also continues to contribute consistently, as does Fran. I am very happy with them. Although Alvaro Carreras and Raul Asensio did not participate today, we have a great group of Spanish players, many of whom are young and have a great future. We are very happy to have them at Real Madrid."
