Carrick: This is What Fernandez Excels At, and You Will Know My Future in a Few Days

Sunday 17-05-2026
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick appeared in a press statement following the 3-2 victory over Nottingham in the 37th round of the English Premier League, at Old Trafford.

The coach said, "We wanted to finish the season strongly. We put ourselves in a good position, and we were pleased to achieve that today in front of our fans. We aimed to win the match, and we made things difficult for ourselves at times, but I believe some aspects of the play were fantastic, and we could have won by a larger margin. It was a special day for us; we won the match, and the atmosphere in the stadium was amazing."

Regarding Bruno Fernandes' record for assists in a single season: "This is what he excels at. He has an innate talent for creating opportunities, a keen sense of space, and an acute awareness of his surroundings. It was important for him and for all of us. On two or three occasions, I thought he would score, sometimes when he was charging towards the goal, I thought he would shoot or pass, but he didn't want the ball to go beyond the team. It was nice that he did it for himself, but the celebration by everyone was a wonderful moment."

Regarding Casemiro: "Casemiro has been an exceptional player for a long time. We appreciate everything he has contributed, especially since I joined the team, as his performance has been excellent. Part of football is that everything has an end, and you have to evolve and adapt. During my time here, we have seen great players leave the club. It is a challenge, but we thank him for everything he has given."

About Luke Shaw: "I am very happy for Luke, as he has been consistent in his performance and physical fitness. He is a fantastic player, and it was great for him to score at that moment. He has gone through tough times and great ones, but he has overcome them and is still here. We expect a lot from him, as he now has a lot of experience, but today was a special day for him."

Regarding his future in light of reports suggesting he will remain the team's coach: "As far as the end of the season is concerned, nothing has changed. If there is anything to be said in any direction, it will be announced, but today was dedicated to the match and finishing the season strongly for all the players and the club. We will see what happens in the next few days."

He concluded: "There are a lot of rumors, and it's interesting to find out what is true and what is not. It's not my place to delve into this matter. Things will become clear in the next few days."
