Mourinho: Real Madrid is in Contact with My Agent

Portuguese coach José Mourinho confirmed that his future is still undecided amid increasing reports linking him to a return to Real Madrid, noting that there are indirect contacts between the club and his agent Jorge Mendes.

Mourinho said in a press conference yesterday after Benfica's last match of the season: 'At the moment, the only official offer I have is from Benfica, which I have not yet reviewed, but Jorge Mendes told me it is an excellent offer.'

He added: 'It is true that I have not spoken with Florentino Pérez or anyone from Real Madrid's management, all of this is true, but I'm not stupid, there are contacts between the club and Jorge Mendes, and I believe they will turn into direct contacts with me during the next week.'

The Portuguese coach explained that he will delay deciding his future until the coming days, saying: 'I now have a period to make a decision calmly, tomorrow I will wake up as Benfica's coach, and on Monday I will go to the training center, and then we will see what happens.'

Regarding the possibility of continuing with Benfica, Mourinho said: 'Currently, it is very likely that I will stay with Benfica, because I have a contract and an excellent renewal offer, but from Real Madrid's side, there is nothing official yet.'

He concluded on the possibility of rejecting an offer from Real Madrid, saying: 'It depends on the nature of the offer and what they expect from me, it is not about money, but about the project, and whether I am capable of implementing what they ask.'
