Tarek El-Sayed Criticizes Zamalek Management After Confederation Loss

Sunday 17-05-2026
Tarek El-Sayed criticized the Zamalek management following the team's loss of the African Confederation Cup title.

Zamalek lost on penalties with a score of 8-7 after a 1-1 draw against Algerian club USM Alger in both the first and second leg matches.

Tarek El-Sayed, speaking on the program "Al-Kaptin" broadcast on dmc channel, said that the Zamalek board and the football management bear responsibility for what happened due to the loss of several key players during the season.

He added: "The board of directors and the football management are responsible for what happened and for selling important players in the middle of the season. You sell these to keep the rest going. I don't have a number 6 player and I sell Dunga? Is that logical?"

He continued: "Mohamed Shehata is being treated unfairly. He is an outstanding player in the number 8 position, but you're placing him in the number 6 role and expecting him to carry the team, which is not his position."

He confirmed: "Zamalek made a mistake by selling Dunga and Nasser Maher mid-season, but things were going smoothly and no one was talking about it."
