Polish international and Barcelona team striker Robert Lewandowski announced his departure from the Catalan club at the end of the current season, following the conclusion of his contract with the club.
The Polish star wrote on his Instagram account: "After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to leave. I depart feeling that I have accomplished my mission, four seasons, three La Liga titles, I will never forget the love the fans have showered me with since my beginnings. Catalonia is my home."
He added: "Thank you to everyone I met during these wonderful four years. A special thanks to President Laporta for giving me the opportunity to live the best chapters of my career. Barcelona returns to its natural place."
He concluded: "Long live Barcelona. Long live Catalonia!"
The player is expected to receive a special farewell from Barcelona fans in the upcoming match against Betis at Camp Nou, in an atmosphere expected to be emotional considering what he has contributed during his time at the club, before he begins a new phase in his football career.
The player has yet to make a final decision about his next destination amid interest from Italian and Saudi league clubs in signing him.
