Rashford Offers a New Solution to Stay with Barcelona

Saturday 16-05-2026
FC Barcelona continues to study the future of English player Marcus Rashford before the start of the new season, as his continued presence with the team has become one of the key issues on the sports management's agenda following the clinching of the Spanish league title.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Hans Flick has given his approval for Rashford to continue with the team, and the sports management is also convinced to keep the player. However, the Catalan club refuses to complete the deal at any high financial cost, as it tries to balance technical needs with the economic situation.

Barcelona's current stance is to try to convince Manchester United to agree to a new loan for the player, a point also mentioned by Joan Laporta. However, the English club insists on receiving 30 million euros for the player's permanent transfer, which is the value of the purchase clause that expires next June.

The same source added that Manchester United's management does not view Rashford's public desire to continue with Barcelona positively, even though Michael Carrick, the English team's coach, confirmed his reliance on the player in his future plans.

Barcelona is also facing competition from Aston Villa, which is showing interest in signing the English winger after the period he worked with coach Unai Emery.

Rashford had previously reached a personal agreement with Barcelona to sign a three-season contract if he stayed, with a significant reduction in his salary. However, the Catalan club's officials are hesitant to pay the deal's value due to the high depreciation and salary costs over the contract's duration.

The Spanish newspaper explained that Rashford proposed a new solution by extending his contract with Barcelona for five years until the summer of 2032, while maintaining the same salary without any financial increase, in order to reduce the annual depreciation value for the club.

Barcelona is aware that the English player has already sacrificed 40 percent of his salary to facilitate his continuation, and the club also understands the difficulty of finding a winger who can achieve the same numbers as Rashford this season, having reached 14 goals and 12 assists.

Despite ongoing communications between all parties, Rashford has not yet received any final decision regarding his future, while the player remains committed to the idea of staying with Barcelona in the coming phase.
