Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez responded to Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, who criticized Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, following the spread of photos this week showing him waving the Palestinian flag during the team's celebrations of the Spanish league title in Barcelona.
Sanchez wrote on his account on Platform X: "Those who consider raising a country's flag as incitement to hatred have either lost their minds or are blinded by their own baseness."
He added: "Lamine merely expressed solidarity with Palestine, a sentiment felt by millions of Spaniards, which is another reason for us to be proud of him."
The 18-year-old player appeared during the league title celebrations, briefly raising the Palestinian flag after it was handed to him by a fan.
