Barcelona has begun to reorganize its attacking priorities in preparation for the upcoming summer transfer market, with the name of Brazilian striker Joao Pedro emerging as one of the top options to strengthen the center-forward position, amidst the increasing complexities associated with the Argentine Julian Alvarez deal.

According to Mundo Deportivo, sporting director Deco has given the green light to move towards signing Joao Pedro, considering him a more economically viable option compared to the Alvarez deal, which has recently faced significant obstacles.

The Argentine forward was the primary target for Barcelona's management and coaching staff from the start, especially with the Polish player Robert Lewandowski's contract nearing its end on June 30th next year, despite the club's offer to renew his contract under lower financial terms.

However, negotiations to sign Álvarez have become more complicated after Paris Saint-Germain entered the race strongly to acquire him, amid reports confirming the French club's readiness to make an offer exceeding 100 million euros, which is the maximum financial capacity of Barcelona for the deal.

The reports also indicated that Atletico Madrid prefers to sell the player to Paris Saint-Germain rather than have him transfer to a direct competitor within the Spanish league.

Despite Julian Alvarez's desire to wear the Barcelona jersey, the Catalan club's management realizes that completing the deal will only be possible if the player exerts direct pressure on Atletico Madrid's management and its new owner, the investment fund "Apollo Global Management," to facilitate his move to "Camp Nou."

On the other hand, Barcelona has already moved towards the option of João Pedro, as communications have begun with the player's representatives and his agency, with a belief within the club that the deal can be completed next summer.

According to the report, the contract value for the Brazilian striker could reach around 70 million euros, which is significantly less than the cost of acquiring Alvarez. Additionally, the player may be open to leaving Chelsea, especially if the English club fails to qualify for European competitions next season.

João Pedro is seen within Barcelona as a player who possesses the technical qualities Deco is looking for to strengthen the forward line, thanks to his ability to play as a true striker and move freely across various attacking positions.
