Uncertain Situation Regarding Mitoma Before the World Cup

Brighton coach, German Fabian Hurzler, confirmed that the condition of Japanese star Kaoru Mitoma remains unclear regarding his potential participation in the 2026 World Cup, noting that the player is still in the recovery phase with no specific date set for his return to the field.

Horzler said that the English club is in constant communication with the Japanese national team's technical staff, explaining: "We do not yet know whether Mitoma will be able to participate in the World Cup or not, and it is not possible to determine an exact time for his return at this stage."

Shortly before the announcement of Japan's squad for the 2026 World Cup, Japanese television reported that the chances of Kaoru Mitoma being absent from the "Samurai" list seem high, amid doubts about his full readiness before the tournament begins.

On the other hand, Japan's national team coach Hajime Moriyasu expressed his hope that the player could still join the tournament, affirming that he might rely on him even if he needs to return during the World Cup, while awaiting the development of his condition in the coming weeks.
