Intense Debate After Riyadh Derby: Al-Deayea Attacks Bounou, Al-Harifi and Atif Defend

Former goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Deayea sparked widespread controversy after criticizing the performance of Moroccan Yassine Bounou during the Riyadh derby between Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.

Al-Daee's statements came after the match ended in a 1-1 draw at Awal Park, as part of the 32nd round of the Saudi Roshan League.

In his analysis, Al-Daeea emphasized that Bono bears part of the responsibility for Al-Nassr's goal, noting that the ball could have been handled better within the penalty area.

He added that the goalkeeper should have moved forward to intercept the cross instead of staying on the goal line, considering that this decision gave Al-Nassr players a clear advantage in front of the goal.

Al-Deayea questioned the timing of a goalkeeper's intervention if they do not move for such dangerous balls within the six-yard box, emphasizing that decisiveness is a crucial element in this position.

On the other hand, both Fahd Al-Harifi and Ahmed Ateef defended Bono, refusing to hold him directly responsible for the goal.

Al-Harifi explained that the ball came from a complex corner kick that reached the far post, making it difficult for the goalkeeper to decide to come out at the right time.

Atif pointed out that the heavy congestion inside the six-yard box obstructed Bono's vision and movement, emphasizing that the defensive positioning was not ideal in that instance.
