Court Rules in Favor of Real Madrid in Bernabéu Concerts Case

Wednesday 13-05-2026
Real Madrid Club announced in an official statement today, Wednesday, that the Spanish judiciary ruled in its favor in the case related to the concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The club clarified that the third chamber of the regional court in Madrid issued a decision accepting the appeal submitted by the club's general manager, José Ángel Sánchez, in addition to 'Real Madrid Estadio' company, with the support of the public prosecutor, against the judicial decision issued in January 2026.

The court confirmed 'clearly and decisively' that José Ángel Sánchez and the Real Madrid Estadio company bear no criminal responsibility related to the concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, with a decision to permanently dismiss the case and completely terminate the criminal proceedings.

The court also clarified that the responsibility lies with the companies organizing the concerts, as they are the entities responsible for organizing, managing, and executing the events, and therefore they are responsible for adhering to noise limits according to municipal laws on sound pollution.

The club said: 'The regional court also concluded that the entities licensed to manage the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, as the party responsible for promoting, organizing, developing, and executing each event, bear the responsibility to ensure compliance with ambient noise level limits (in decibels), as stipulated by the municipal decree on protection from noise and thermal pollution issued on February 25, 2011. The ruling also states that merely violating a general administrative clause for environmental protection does not, in itself, justify resorting to criminal law.'

It added: 'Real Madrid expresses its satisfaction with this judicial ruling, which confirms the invalidity of the lawsuit filed by the Association of Residents Affected by the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and six other residents against José Ángel Sánchez Periñes and the Real Madrid Estadio company, which is baseless and politically motivated.

In conclusion: 'Real Madrid reaffirms its full confidence in the course of justice and will continue to cooperate with the competent authorities in all necessary ways.'
