Real Madrid Halts Negotiations with Mourinho
Journalist Sergio Valentin revealed that negotiations between Real Madrid and Portuguese coach José Mourinho have been temporarily halted due to administrative developments within the royal club.
According to the report, the club's executive director, José Ángel Sánchez, contacted Jorge Mendes, Mourinho's agent, to inform him of the need to postpone the matter of hiring the coach due to the call for presidential elections within the club.
Valentin pointed out that Mourinho and Mendes' camp is in a state of astonishment after the sudden decision, especially given the progress that had been made in the negotiations recently.
Club president Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid management hope that Mourinho will be patient and wait for the administrative situation to be resolved before officially continuing negotiations.
The report added that the expected scenario depends on the upcoming elections. If there are no other candidates, the issue might be postponed for only about 15 days. However, if actual elections are held, the waiting period could extend between 30 and 40 days.
Valentin concluded that communications between the two parties have not been completely severed. However, Real Madrid's management believes it is illogical to continue negotiations with a new coach when Florentino Perez does not yet officially hold the position of president.
