Paris Saint-Germain Rules Out Signing Alvarez

Tuesday 12-05-2026
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that Paris Saint-Germain does not currently include the Argentine striker Julian Alvarez in its summer plans, despite reports linking the player to a move to the Parisian club recently.

According to the newspaper, Julian Alvarez's name continues to dominate the transfer market scene, with several European clubs interested in signing him, including Barcelona, which is looking for a striker capable of succeeding Lewandowski in the future.

The same source indicated that some reports spoke of Paris Saint-Germain's interest in signing Atletico Madrid's striker for about 110 million euros, with coach Luis Enrique's approval of the deal.

However, sources within Paris Saint-Germain clarified to the Spanish newspaper that Julian Alvarez is not currently part of the club's plans, and any potential changes in the attacking line will first be linked to the file of departing players.

The same sources confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain tried to sign the player a year ago, after his decision to leave Manchester City, with Luis Enrique's approval, but the player preferred to move to Atletico Madrid.

The newspaper added that the management of Paris Saint-Germain, despite Luis Enrique's admiration for the Argentine striker, is not currently thinking of spending large sums of money to sign him before resolving the issue of departures.

On the other hand, Barcelona prefers to handle Alvarez's file calmly, waiting for the end of the season and the possibility of facilitating any future negotiations with Atletico Madrid.

The report pointed out that sporting director Deco has become more relaxed after the likelihood of Paris Saint-Germain entering the race to sign the Argentine player has diminished.
