Jesus Tops the List of Candidates to Coach Fenerbahçe Next Season

Monday 11-05-2026
Press reports revealed that Portuguese Jorge Jesus, the head coach of Al-Nassr, is among the top candidates to take over the leadership of Turkish club Fenerbahçe for the next season, in a surprising development that is stirring up the coaching market.

This coincides with Fenerbahçe Club's announcement of heading towards decisive presidential elections on June 6 and 7, 2026, amidst strong competition between candidates Aziz Yıldırım and Hakan Safi.

The issue of the head coach has become one of the most prominent topics in the electoral battle within the Turkish club, as each candidate seeks to present a strong sports project that begins with selecting the appropriate coach for the upcoming phase.

Behind the scenes, it is indicated that coach Kocaman is preparing himself for the possibility of taking on the responsibility, in case he is officially assigned, as part of the technical arrangements preceding the final announcement.

However, the scenario might change, as Aziz Yildirim is considering assigning a significant administrative role to Kocaman while keeping the option of hiring a foreign coach open, which has brought Jesus's name back into the spotlight.

Sources close to the matter confirm that the candidates are seriously considering opening negotiations with Jesus, who previously coached Fenerbahçe and left an offensive mark that impressed the fans.

There had been communications with the Dutchman Mark van Bommel before the focus quickly shifted to Jesus, who had been a long-standing target for the Yildirim administration in previous periods.

Jesus is under contract with Al-Nassr from July 2025 until the end of June 2026, which coincides with the start of the new administration's tenure at Fenerbahçe.

The current data indicates the difficulty of renewing the coach's contract with Al-Nassr, given some challenges related to meeting his technical requirements, which may open the door for his departure next summer.
