The Judgment of the El Clasico Match Between Real Madrid and Barcelona
Saturday 09-05-2026
The Technical Referees Committee announced the appointment of referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez to manage the El Clasico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, scheduled to take place on Sunday at 10 PM Cairo time.

The referee was chosen by the Technical Referees Committee due to the level he has shown during the current season, in addition to being appointed on the list of referees for the upcoming World Cup, as he is considered one of the prominent names trusted by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA).

Iglesias Villanueva will take on the role of assistant video assistant referee (VAR) during the match.

This appointment comes in light of Hernandez Hernandez's previous experience in El Clasico matches, as he has managed several encounters between the two teams in La Liga in past years, the first being in the 2015/2016 season, while he managed the last El Clasico in the previous season.

The referee has a record with Barcelona in 41 matches, during which the team achieved 25 victories, 12 draws, and 4 losses, while he managed 37 matches for Real Madrid, in which they achieved 21 wins, 6 draws, and 10 losses.

This will be the sixth El Clasico that Hernandez Hernandez manages in his refereeing career.
