Erbil Striker Ignites Transfer Market in Iraq!
Friday 08-05-2026
The Uzbek striker Sherzod Temirov, star of Erbil, has become the talk of major clubs in the Iraqi Stars League, following the exceptional season he is delivering with his team.

The 27-year-old player's brilliance has made him the primary target for most of the leading teams looking for a decisive striker for the next season, given the impressive numbers he is achieving with Erbil.

After 33 rounds of the competition, Temirov has scored 26 goals, averaging almost a goal per match, having participated in only 28 games.

This number has placed him comfortably at the top of the league's goal scorers, with a margin of 7 goals ahead of his closest rival, Aladdin Al-Dali, the Mosul striker. The numbers alone explain why the player is in high demand.

Sources close to the transfer market confirmed that top-tier clubs have started their moves early to secure their summer deals, with most eyes set on the names that have imposed themselves this season, foremost among them Temirov.

Al-Karma, Al-Zawraa, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, and Al-Shurta are among the clubs that have shown clear interest in the player. Some have officially inquired about the contract value and deal requirements to determine the possibility of entering negotiations.

According to available information, Al-Karma's offer was the highest so far, reaching around $770,000 per season, making it the strongest financially compared to other local offers.

Despite admiration for Al-Karma's offer, Temirov informed his agent that he would not decide his future currently. The reason is his ambition to participate with the Uzbekistan national team in the 2026 World Cup finals, as he awaits the announcement of the final list to understand his position.

The player believes that the next phase may open wider professional doors for him, especially in Gulf leagues like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which makes him handle the offers with great caution.

If Temirov decides to continue in Iraq, Al-Karma seems the closest to securing the deal, as it holds the highest offer, in addition to the ambitious project led by Egyptian coach Moamen Soliman, who seeks to build a team capable of competing with the big names for the title.

However, the Gulf option remains strongly present in the player's mind, especially with the high market value he currently enjoys, and the desire to embark on a new experience before the World Cup.

Temirov joined Erbil in a free transfer deal last summer, coming from Kitchee Club in Hong Kong.

Before that, he had distinguished professional experiences in the Iranian league with Persepolis and Paykan between 2021 and 2024, which gained him significant experience in strong competitive atmospheres, reflecting on his current level in Iraq.
