Neuer: This is What We Needed, and We Lacked Decisiveness
Thursday 07-05-2026
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer spoke in a press statement following the team's elimination from the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. The team lost the first leg 5-4 and then drew 1-1 in the second leg.

Neuer said after the match: "I think we lacked offensive decisiveness today, but in the end, we had chances to win the game."

He added: "We didn't have many opportunities to score, but when you have those moments... look at Paris Saint-Germain - they were very decisive, scoring five goals as they did in the first leg. That's exactly what we needed today, and I think you noticed that we were close to reaching the final, but we couldn't seal the match."

He continued: "Unfortunately, our goal came a bit too late. We didn't have enough time to create another opportunity or even get a set-piece. At that moment, it was already too late."

He concluded: "I think we missed that decisive moment in the match. The stadium was there, and we were there too, but I believe we weren't decisive enough inside Paris Saint-Germain's penalty area."
