Wednesday 06-05-2026
The Saudi Professional League announced the launch of the second phase of the player recruitment program, with the adoption of a new system for allocation distribution, in a move aimed at enhancing competitiveness and promoting financial sustainability for the clubs.

This transformation is an extension of the development path that began in 2023, where the program significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of the league and increasing its appeal both locally and internationally.

The new mechanism is based on four key criteria, including an equal distribution of 22%, athletic performance at the same rate, as well as television viewership at 28%, and commercial performance at 28%.

These standards aim to achieve greater fairness and link financial support to performance levels both on and off the field, providing clubs with an incentive to develop all aspects.

The association affirmed that the new phase represents a transition from establishing the market to a more organized stage, relying on governance and clarity of standards, while granting clubs a broader role in managing their resources.

It was also clarified that a comprehensive guideline will be provided to explain the mechanism for the distribution of allocations, helping clubs to plan ahead for registration periods and make precise financial decisions.

The first phase of the program witnessed remarkable results, most notably a 221% increase in the market value of clubs, a 353% rise in commercial revenues, along with a significant growth in competitiveness.

For his part, Omar Maghrabi emphasized that the development of the program was a natural necessity, affirming that the new phase will support sustainability and enhance the quality of the league, which will positively impact the fan experience.
