Simeone's Son Nears River Plate
Wednesday 06-05-2026
The Argentine Giovanni Simeone, the Torino striker, has seriously caught the attention of River Plate to strengthen the team in the second half of 2026, following the preparatory camp in Europe.

According to what was revealed by TyC Sports, the striker informed coach Eduardo Coudet of his desire to return to the club where he grew up, receiving the green light from the coaching staff.

Simeone, who is 30 years old, believes that now is the perfect time to return to Argentina, especially as he feels he is experiencing his best physical and mental period.

The Argentine striker wants to finish his current season in the best possible way before making a move to return, having successfully scored 83 goals in Serie A during his career with clubs such as Genoa, Hellas Verona, Cagliari, Fiorentina, Napoli, and Torino. This achievement places him among the top 130 scorers in the history of Serie A and tenth among Argentine players, surpassing even Diego Maradona in terms of goals scored in the league.

According to those close to the player, his primary desire is to give back to River Plate, the club that gave him the opportunity to start his career in the world of football. During his first stint with the team, Simeone played 33 matches, scored 4 goals, and won 4 titles before embarking on his long European journey.

Despite the initial understanding between the player and the club, official negotiations between River Plate and his current club have not yet begun. However, the strong historical relationship between River and Torino, dating back to the Superga disaster in 1949, may play an important role in facilitating the deal, especially with the player's clear desire to wear the red and white jersey again.
