Al-Ahly Fans Chant Against Hossam El-Badry
Wednesday 06-05-2026
The journalist Ahmed Shobeir revealed the latest developments regarding the new head coach position at Al-Ahly, as Jes Torup's departure from coaching the team approaches.

In his radio program today, Shobier stated: "What happened specifically with Hossam El-Badry's case involved communications that took place in the past period, even up until yesterday. However, this does not necessarily mean that matters have been definitively settled in his favor or in favor of Ali Maher, as their names are not the only options being considered."

He continued: "There is also a tendency within the board of directors to hire a foreign coach. Therefore, the situation remains open to more than one scenario, whether continuing with the idea of an Egyptian coach or opting for the foreign option."

He continued: "Until yesterday, the closest direction leaned towards one of the Egyptian coaches, with Hossam El Badry leading, followed by Ali Maher. However, the angry reactions from the fans in the Al Ahly stands towards the idea of hiring El Badry might relatively change the scene."

He continued: "I do not support the idea that fans should make decisions, whether on the field or through social media, but it is clear that yesterday's chants were strong and widespread, creating a debate within the club, which cannot be ignored when evaluating the full picture."

He continued: "At the same time, there are official communications with Hossam El-Badry, and he has shown initial willingness. However, there remains a state of division among the fans, between supporters and opponents, with clear pressure on social media."

Shobeir concluded: "Overall, everything is still possible, whether a complete change in direction or an official statement denying all the circulating rumors about the nominations. This is something everyone is accustomed to in such matters, while the final decision remains in the hands of the club's management in the coming period."
