Tottenham Confirms Successful Surgery for Xavi Simons
Wednesday 06-05-2026
Tottenham Hotspur announced that Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons underwent successful knee surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear during the team's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

Simmons had left the field during the second half of the match, which ended with Tottenham's 1-0 victory, after a strong challenge from Matt Doherty. He appeared to be in clear pain immediately upon falling, raising concerns among the club's coaching and medical staff.

After medical examinations, it was confirmed that he suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament, one of the most serious injuries that requires a long rehabilitation period before returning to the field, meaning he will be absent for a long time from the team and from the Netherlands national team in the World Cup.

Tottenham released an official statement on their social media accounts, accompanied by a photo of the player from the hospital, confirming the success of the surgery and stating that the player will now begin the rehabilitation phase in preparation for his gradual return in the future.
