Louay Salah: We Will Enter the Students' Match with High Confidence Seeking the Three Points
Monday 04-05-2026
Al-Zawraa Club held its press conference for the match against Al-Talaba, as part of the 33rd round of the Iraqi Stars League, which will be hosted at the International City Stadium tomorrow, Tuesday, in the anticipated Baghdad derby.

Coach Louay Salah and player Mohammed Qasim spoke about the importance of the encounter and the difficult circumstances the 'Al-Nawaris' are going through before this decisive match in the race for the top four.

Al-Zawraa's coach confirmed that his team has delivered good and distinguished performances in recent matches, but he pointed out that the real problem lies in the absence of the final touch. He said: 'We lack decisiveness in front of the goal, which makes the difference in matches of such importance.'

Salah revealed the difficulty of the technical situation before the derby due to injuries and suspensions affecting the team. He explained: 'We do not have enough players to conduct rotations, and we will enter the match with only 14 players, so our options will be limited.'

Despite these circumstances, the coach expressed great confidence in his players' ability to make up for it. He added: 'I have great confidence in the players to secure the three points and make up for the recent draws.'

For his part, team player Mohammed Qasim described the match as 'important and with a large fan base,' emphasizing that winning it would be equivalent to six points, given the close point difference between the two teams.

Qasim said: 'Winning tomorrow will give us an important step forward in the standings. We seek to make up in tomorrow's match and reconcile with our large fan base.'

Al-Zawraa enters the match in fifth place with 58 points, only by goal difference from Al-Talaba in fourth place. The 'Al-Nawaris' stumbled in the last round with a draw against Amanat Baghdad, which increased the pressure on the team before this derby.

Al-Talaba, for its part, is having a stable season and has a distinguished group of players and will try to exploit Al-Zawraa's circumstances to strengthen its position in the top four.
