Inter Milan, the Italian league champion, has finalized the permanent signing of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji from Manchester City, following a successful loan spell with the "Nerazzurri."

Akanji, 30, joined Inter last summer on loan with an obligation to buy for 15 million euros, before the decision was officially made to convert the deal into a permanent transfer.

The journalist specializing in the transfer market, Nicolo Schira, revealed on his account on the "X" platform that the Swiss defender will sign a contract extending until the summer of 2028, continuing his career with the Italian champions.

Akanji had a strong season with Inter, contributing to the club's 21st Italian league title. He participated in 44 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals in the league, underscoring his value within the defensive setup.

Manchester City was a significant milestone in the player's career after he transferred from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, before choosing to embark on a new experience in Italy.

This move comes after Inter officially clinched the title following a 2-0 victory over Parma in the 35th round, securing the championship with three rounds to spare. In a season where the "Nerazzurri" affirmed their local dominance and sent clear signals of the continuation of their strong project.
