Martinez: It Wasn't Easy to Return After a Zero Season, and I Saw Things I Didn't Like
Lautaro Martinez, the Inter Milan forward, confirmed that his team faced significant challenges in returning to competition after a disappointing season, noting that he had spoken candidly earlier due to some matters that did not please him.
Martinez said, "What I said at that time was what I felt and what I was holding inside. I didn't plan it, but I saw some things I didn't like, and I always say what I think."
He continued: "We are very happy now. It wasn't easy to start anew after a season where we lost all the championships at the last moments, but I am very pleased today with this achievement."
He added, "This was a very important goal for us, and perhaps not many considered us contenders after what happened last season, but we worked hard both on and off the field."
Martinez pointed to the team's development over recent years, saying: "For years, we have performed well in Italy and Europe, reaching the Champions League final twice in three years, and we must continue on this path."
He continued: "In such a balanced league, we have succeeded in maintaining our focus as a group, and that is what impresses me the most, the unity of the team."
He touched on the role of coach Cristian Chivu, saying: "The coach did a fantastic job, bringing new energy and great enthusiasm. After four years with Simone Inzaghi, we might have needed a change of atmosphere, and that helped us a lot."
He concluded his remarks by saying: "There is still room for more titles, this is my mentality and the mentality of Inter, and I am very proud to wear this jersey."
