Keane Attacks Liverpool After Their Defeat to United: They Played Like a Poor Five-a-Side Team
Sunday 03-05-2026
Roy Keane harshly criticized Liverpool's performance during the classic encounter against Manchester United, considering that coach Arne Slot's team appeared "afraid" in the first half, during which the Reds were trailing by two goals at Old Trafford.

Matheus Cunha scored the first goal for United early on, before Benjamin Sesko added the second amid protests from Liverpool players due to a suspected handball. Despite a video review of the incident, the referee decided to award the goal, which angered Slot and his players.

The former United star showed no sympathy for Liverpool and said during the TV analysis: "Slot should be angrier with his team than with the goal decision; the players looked scared to death."

He added: "Liverpool was like a poor five-a-side team, lacking physical strength and easily losing the ball, while United seemed capable of scoring with every attack."

Despite Liverpool's comeback in the second half with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo, Kobbie Mainoo secured the winning goal for Manchester United, confirming the team's qualification for the Champions League.
