Juan Garcia Nears Top of Zamora Trophy Race with Barcelona
Monday 27-04-2026
The Spanish goalkeeper Juan Garcia continues to deliver outstanding performances with Barcelona, bringing him one step closer to leading the race for the Zamora Trophy for the best goalkeeper in La Liga, according to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

Garcia managed to keep a clean sheet for the second consecutive match during the encounter with Getafe, an achievement that significantly brought Barcelona closer to securing the league title and also boosted his chances in the competition for the individual award.

According to the report, the goalkeeper achieved 14 clean sheets in La Liga and 17 clean sheets across various competitions, including two matches in the Copa del Rey and one in the Super Cup. He conceded only 19 goals in 27 matches, achieving the best rate among La Liga goalkeepers with an average of 0.70 goals per match.

Despite leading in terms of average, Garcia has not yet entered the official ranking for the award. The award's regulations, granted by the newspaper "Marca," require participating in at least 28 matches, with a minimum of 60 minutes played in each match.

The Barcelona goalkeeper is expected to top the rankings in the upcoming round, unless his team suffers a significant loss to Osasuna by five goals or more.

Currently, Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper, leads the list with an average of 0.86 goals per game, having conceded 24 goals in 28 matches, despite his current absence due to injury.

David Soria, Getafe's goalkeeper, ranks second with an average of 1.03 goals, having conceded 34 goals in 33 matches, while Luiz Junior, Villarreal's goalkeeper, comes in third.

Garcia has a great opportunity to take the lead in the next round and finish the season as the goalkeeper who conceded the fewest goals in La Liga, provided he maintains his current performance level.
