Bayern Munich Responds to Reports of Signing Gordon
Sunday 26-04-2026
Bayern Munich's management has settled the debate regarding their association with one of the Premier League's top stars, amid increasing speculation about the club's moves in the summer transfer market.

Max Eberl, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, clarified the truth about the circulated news regarding the club's interest in signing Anthony Gordon, Newcastle United's winger, during the upcoming summer transfer period.

In statements to the “ZDF” network, Eberl confirmed that discussing negotiations with players who are contracted with their clubs is inappropriate, saying: “It would be disrespectful to talk about players who have contracts with other clubs, we deal with the transfer market calmly and intelligently.”

Anthony Gordon is under contract with Newcastle United until the summer of 2030, complicating the possibility of his departure at the moment, especially as the English club is keen to retain his services.

Gordon joined Newcastle from Everton during the winter transfer period of 2023, in a deal valued at approximately 45 million euros, after a career that began in Liverpool's academy before moving to Everton, then going out on loan to Preston.

The English winger has delivered impressive performances during the current season, participating in 46 matches with Newcastle, scoring 17 goals and providing 5 assists, making him a target for several European clubs.

On another note, Bayern Munich is preparing for a strong clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals, after qualifying at the expense of Real Madrid with a total score of 6-4 over the two legs.

Additionally, the Bavarian team secured the German league title for the 35th time in its history, and the second consecutive time, after defeating Stuttgart 4-2 in the 30th round, continuing its domestic dominance.
