Atletico Madrid secured an important victory over Athletic Bilbao with a score of 3-2 in the match that brought them together in the 32nd round of the Spanish League, held at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Athletic Bilbao opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Aitor Paredes, ending the first half with the visiting team leading by one goal to nil.

In the second half, Atlético Madrid quickly made a comeback, with Antoine Griezmann scoring the equalizer in the 49th minute.

Just five minutes later, Alexander Sørloth managed to score the second goal in the 54th minute, giving his team the advantage and turning the match around. Sørloth returned once again to score his second and his team's third goal in the 90+3 minute. Athletic Bilbao succeeded in scoring their second goal in the 90+7 minute through player Gorka Guruzeta.

With this victory, Atlético Madrid increased their tally to 60 points, securing fourth place in the La Liga standings, while Athletic Bilbao remained at 41 points in ninth place.
