Borussia Dortmund has announced the extension of the contract of their young Algerian defender, Elias Benkara, who is 18 years old, until June 30, 2029.

Ben Kara is considered one of the rising names in Dortmund's defense. He joined the club in 2021 from Mainz and continued his development through various age groups, gradually approaching the first team as he continued to shine in the youth teams.

During the current season, the young defender participated in 9 matches with the Under-19 team, in addition to 10 matches with the reserve team (U23). He was also included for the first time in the first team's squad during the UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona in December 2024, although he did not get the chance to play.

At the international level, Ben Gara received his first call-up to represent the Algerian national team in November 2025, where he participated in a training camp, reflecting his development and the recent interest from national teams.
