The developments regarding the future of Colombian midfielder Richard Rios, the Benfica star, are accelerating amid growing interest from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, with the Portuguese club insisting on receiving a significant financial compensation to release the player.

According to English press reports, Manchester United has already initiated preliminary contacts with the player's entourage to explore the possibility of signing him in the upcoming period, as part of their plans to strengthen the midfield in the transfer market.

On the other hand, Benfica has set a financial condition of no less than 35 million euros to release Reus, a figure that Manchester United's management seems willing to discuss, given their technical conviction of the player's importance to the future project.

Benfica's management wishes to retain the player at least until the 2026 World Cup finals, hoping that his performance with the Colombian national team will further increase his market value.

Benfica signed Rios last summer for 27 million euros from Palmeiras, and he quickly succeeded in establishing himself in the starting lineup.

During his first season in Europe, the 25-year-old player participated in 42 matches, scoring 5 goals and providing 5 assists, becoming one of the standout midfielders in the Portuguese league.

Atletico Madrid's interest

In a related context, Atlético Madrid continues to closely monitor the player's situation, as the club's sports management believes he fits the style of coach Diego Simeone, which is based on physical strength and tactical discipline.

Other reports also indicate interest from European clubs such as Napoli and Inter Milan, which opens the door to strong competition for signing the player during the upcoming transfer market.

According to the newspaper "A Bola," Benfica does not plan to easily part with Rios, especially since he is tied to a long-term contract that extends until 2030, which gives the Portuguese club a strong position in negotiations.

Nevertheless, all scenarios remain open, with expectations that the player's brilliance in upcoming international events could further increase his market value, potentially igniting competition among clubs interested in signing him.
