Pogba Praises Mbappe: Just a Matter of Time Before He Wins the Ballon d'Or
Paul Pogba expressed great confidence in his fellow Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, confirming that he is always a contender for the Ballon d'Or, and that it's 'just a matter of time' before he wins the award, during his appearance on a podcast with former English star Rio Ferdinand.
During his talk on the Rio Ferdinand Presents program, Paul Pogba said that Kylian Mbappe was the best player throughout the season, pointing out his continuous development and high scoring ability.
The current Monaco player added: 'Is there more to come from Mbappe? Winning the Ballon d'Or is just a matter of time, for me he was the best player throughout the season, and now he even scores more goals than before.'
He also made a comparison between Mbappe and several football legends, saying: 'He has scored more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldo Nazario in his first season with Real Madrid, he can only get better, I'm not surprised.'
Pogba also spoke about the harmony between them on the field: 'We understand each other well, sometimes I hit the ball poorly and yet he reaches it, he is very fast and I know his movements.'
On his relationship with Mourinho: Pogba touched on his previous relationship with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho during his time at Manchester United between 2016 and 2018, confirming that the relationship went through ups and downs despite its good start.
Pogba said: 'I don't want to be rude, I have no problem with any coach, I always respect them, they are the leaders and they decide if you will play or not.'
He added that injuries might have played a role in straining the relationship: 'Mourinho is a fun and special person, but over time I think injuries created some distance.'
