Tuesday 21-04-2026
Press reports have revealed that English club Chelsea is considering coach Diego Simeone as the first choice to lead their project in London in the coming period, should the current coach, Liam Rosenior, fail to achieve the team's European objectives.

According to "Fichajes," Simeone's future with Atlético Madrid is now linked to the club's moves in the transfer market, as the Argentine coach has requested the signing of high-level players to ensure the continuation of his technical project with the team.

The report clarified that Simeone stipulated strengthening the team with strong signings, most notably the Argentine defender Cristian Romero and midfielder Mac Allister, in order to maintain Atletico Madrid's competitiveness in all competitions next season.

The same source indicated that Atletico's management is facing a significant financial challenge to persuade the coach to stay, amidst pressure from English Premier League clubs, particularly Chelsea.

Regarding the desired transfers, the report clarified that Romero is considered the primary target to strengthen the defense, especially with his desire to leave Tottenham and play in the Spanish league, preferring to work under Simeone's management.

Atletico Madrid is also monitoring Mac Allister's situation at Liverpool, as Simeone believes that his addition would be a strong enhancement to the midfield in terms of technical quality and playmaking.

Simeone's future with Atletico Madrid will largely depend on the club's ability to execute these signings, given Chelsea's strong desire to hire him to lead their new project.
