After Qualifying for the Final.. Record Numbers for Al-Ahly in the Asian Elite
Tuesday 21-04-2026
Al-Ahli Club continues to solidify its continental presence, having become one of the most consistent Saudi clubs in reaching the AFC Champions League finals over the past four decades.

In 1986, Al-Ahli registered its name as the first Saudi team to reach the Asian Championship final, establishing a rich history in continental competition from an early stage.

The team reaffirmed its position once again after successfully reaching the final of the 2025/26 edition, becoming the last Saudi representative to make it to the tournament's final scene.

This qualification came after an important victory achieved by Al-Ahly, led by German coach Matthias Jaissle, over Japan's Vissel Kobe with a score of 2-1, in the match held at the Al-Inma Stadium.

Al-Ahly continued to make history by becoming the third team in the modern edition of the AFC Champions League to reach the final as the defending champion.

This achievement was preceded by Al-Ittihad Club, which reached the final as champions in 2004 and 2005, as well as Al-Hilal, which repeated the feat in the 2021 and 2022 editions.

Thus, Al-Ahli joins the list of Saudi clubs that have maintained their presence at the continental summit during the 2024/25 and 2025/26 editions.

The victory over Vissel Kobe reinforced the superiority of Saudi clubs over their Japanese counterparts in the semifinals, following Al-Ittihad's previous win against Nagoya Grampus in 2009.

On the other hand, Al Nassr's only loss was against Kawasaki Frontale in the previous edition, before Al Ahly restored balance and confirmed Saudi superiority.
