Barcelona May Be Deprived of Celebrating at Canaletes if They Win the League
David Escudé, the sports advisor at the Barcelona Municipality, revealed in statements via RAC1 radio that an alternative location will be sought for the potential celebration of FC Barcelona's Spanish league title, due to ongoing renovations on La Rambla street, which affect the Canaletes Fountain area, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo'.
The Canaletes Fountain is the traditional site where Barcelona fans celebrate their titles, but the current works in the area will prevent its use this year if the team wins the league title.
Escudé explained that the Barcelona Municipality is working in coordination with the club to find a suitable alternative location for fan celebrations, noting that the matter is currently being discussed with the relevant authorities.
He added, according to the same statements, that the city police are evaluating the security aspects related to any potential alternative site, confirming that the final decision regarding the celebration location will be in the hands of the security agencies.
As reported by RAC1, among the options proposed to host the celebrations is Catalonia Square, which is close to the Canaletes Fountain and has been used in the past for fan gatherings and watching final matches on giant screens.
It should be noted that Barcelona still needs to secure the Spanish league title first before determining the final potential location for the championship celebration.
