Aston Villa Denies Interest in Barcelona Player
Monday 20-04-2026
English press reports in recent days have revealed Aston Villa's interest in signing Barcelona's left-back, Alejandro Balde, with discussions of a potential offer reaching up to 60 million euros.

However, these reports were officially denied by the English club, as reported by the Spanish newspaper Sport, which confirmed that there is no actual move to sign the player at the present time.

Sources within Aston Villa explained that the club's financial situation does not allow for completing a deal of this magnitude, especially when compared to the capabilities of major clubs in the Premier League. They also emphasized that the team, led by coach Unai Emery, does not see the need to strengthen the left-back position given the availability of ready options within the squad.

The English team currently relies on the duo of Lucas Digne, who has previous experience with Barcelona, alongside the Dutchman Ian Maatsen, who is considered a promising talent and is part of the club's future project.

On the other hand, Barcelona has not closed the door on the possibility of selling Balde, despite previously considering him a key element in the sports project. This season, the player's performance has declined, and he has suffered muscle injuries that kept him out of several matches, prompting the management to consider studying potential offers, especially with the move towards permanently securing Joao Cancelo.

Despite all that, Balde's stance remains clear, as he is not considering leaving Barcelona. He is focused on regaining his starting position within the team. The Spanish player is confident in his ability to return to his usual form and ignores the rumors, holding on to his ambition to succeed in the Catalan club's jersey.
