Lukaku Nears Return to Napoli Training
Sunday 19-04-2026
Reports have revealed that player Romelu Lukaku is close to returning to Napoli's training sessions after a dispute with the club, which resulted in a fine due to his unauthorized absence from training in March.

According to the "Corriere dello Sport" newspaper, Lukaku is expected to return to Napoli's training next Monday in preparation for the last five rounds of the 2025/2026 season in the Italian league, after informing the club of his decision through his agent.

The Belgian striker is experiencing a challenging season in terms of participation, having played only 64 minutes spread across seven matches as a substitute in all competitions. This follows a severe muscle tear in his hamstring during a friendly match against Olympiacos before the season began.

The player's struggle with fitness continued until January, before he returned to participate, but so far he has only played 40 minutes in the Italian league since his comeback.

Due to these circumstances, Lukaku missed the Belgian national team's camp during the international break in March. He was also supposed to join Napoli's training during that period, but he decided to stay in Belgium to complete his recovery. This led the club's management to impose a fine on him for the unauthorized absence.

The newspaper pointed out that Lukaku and coach Antonio Conte have not met face-to-face since Napoli's 1-0 victory over Cagliari on March 20. His anticipated return to training is expected to end this estrangement in the coming days.
