Joan García Approaches Competition for the Zamora Trophy
Saturday 18-04-2026
The Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia is close to entering the race for the "Zamora" award for the best goalkeeper in the Spanish league, even though he has not yet met the requirement of participating in 28 matches. So far, he has played 25 matches and needs just 3 more to reach the required number.

Garcia has delivered strong performances this season, conceding only 19 goals at an average of 0.76 goals per match, making him the best in terms of goals conceded in the Spanish league so far.

According to the numbers, he could have led the competition for the Zamora Trophy if he had met the match count requirement earlier.

Among the top contenders for the award are Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper who conceded 24 goals, Jan Oblak, the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper who conceded 25 goals in 26 matches, and Unai Simon, the Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper who conceded 45 goals.

Joan Garcia is currently the most efficient in terms of statistics, as he surpasses all his competitors in goal reception rate, making him a strong contender for the award if he maintains the same level throughout the remaining matches of the season.
