According to reports, as per 'Football Italia', Italian football will participate in the next season with only 7 clubs in European competitions, following the confirmation of the continental seat allocation.

According to the same source, the Italian league will receive 4 seats in the UEFA Champions League, 2 in the UEFA Europa League, in addition to one seat in the UEFA Europa Conference League, making a total of 7 clubs participating in European competitions.

This development came after all Italian clubs were eliminated from European competitions this season, with Bologna exiting the Europa League after losing to Aston Villa, and Fiorentina being knocked out of the Europa Conference League by Crystal Palace.

The report indicated that these results mean there is no possibility to improve Italy's European ranking, and there will not be any Italian team capable of winning a European title that grants an additional seat in continental competitions.

The same source confirmed that it is now settled that Italy will have only 4 clubs in the UEFA Champions League during the 2026/2027 season.

According to the same source, the fifth and sixth place finishers in the Italian league standings will qualify for the Europa League, alongside the winner of the Coppa Italia.

The report also explained that there is one seat allocated for Italy in the preliminary qualifiers for the Europa Conference League.

Regarding the Coppa Italia, the situation is not entirely resolved yet, as the semi-final list includes Inter Milan, Atalanta, Como, and Lazio, noting that if a team that has already qualified through the league wins, it may lead to an additional seat being opened according to the domestic ranking.
