Napoli President Regrets Refusing to Sell Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia
Aurelio De Laurentiis expressed his regret over the decision not to sell the duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia together during the summer of 2024, following advice he received from then-coach Antonio Conte.
De Laurentiis told The Athletic that his club received an offer of 200 million euros from Paris Saint-Germain and several other clubs to sign the players together. However, the decision was to reject the offer after consulting with Conte, who saw the possibility of keeping Kvaratskhelia while allowing Osimhen to leave.
He explained that this decision later resulted in financial losses, especially after selling Kvaratskhelia in January 2025 for 70 million euros, followed by Osimhen's transfer to Galatasaray in the summer of 2025 for 75 million euros.
De Laurentiis concluded his remarks by pointing out the tension in some matters related to deals and player agencies during that period, considering that some decisions were not in the club's financial interest.
