Officially: Inter Miami Announces Mascherano's Departure from Team Coaching
Inter Miami CF announced on Tuesday, unexpectedly, the departure of their Argentine coach Javier Mascherano from leading the team, a decision made personally by him, thus ending his tenure with the club at an unforeseen time.
Mascherano said in an official statement: "I would like to inform everyone that for personal reasons, I have decided to end my tenure as coach of Inter Miami. I thank the club for the trust they placed in me, all the staff for their collective efforts, and especially the players who gave us unforgettable moments. I will always cherish the memory of achieving the club's first title, and from my position, I will continue to support the team and wish them all the best in the future."
Mascherano is considered one of the most prominent coaches in the club's history, having led the team to win its first Major League Soccer Cup, an achievement that was a primary goal for the club's management under the leadership of David Beckham and Jorge Mas.
Mascherano's resignation came at a relatively difficult time, as the team had only achieved two victories in the last six matches across various competitions, despite not having lost recently, and they were also eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions League.
During his leadership, Mascherano played 67 matches with Inter Miami, achieving 38 wins, 15 draws, and 14 losses, with a success rate of 64%. The team was distinguished by a clear offensive style under his guidance, scoring 143 goals and conceding 97, reflecting his philosophy of offensive play and constant pursuit of victory.
For his part, club owner Jorge Mas praised Mascherano's work, saying: "Javier will always be a part of this club's history and holds a special place in the Inter Miami family. Not only because of titles like winning the MLS Cup or the historic performance in the Club World Cup, but also for his commitment and daily work. We respect his decision and thank him for everything he has done, and we wish him success in his professional and personal future."
The club decided to appoint Guillermo Hoyos as the interim coach to lead the team in the upcoming phase.
