The match began cautiously before Al Hilal succeeded in taking the lead through Sergej Savic in the 29th minute, capitalizing on a precise cross inside the penalty area.

Al Sadd's response was not delayed for long, as they equalized through Claudinho in the 36th minute, ending the first half with a clear balance between the two teams in both performance and score.

As the second half began, Al Hilal regained the lead with a goal from Salem Al-Dawsari in the 55th minute, but Al Sadd quickly equalized with a goal from Rafa Mujica just three minutes later.

The match continued its excitement as Al Hilal scored the third goal through Marcos Leonardo in the 67th minute, before Al Sadd equalized again through Roberto Firmino in the 70th minute.

In overtime, both teams tried to settle the match without success, despite the exchanged opportunities, leading them to a penalty shootout that favored Al Sadd.

With this result, Al Hilal exits the tournament from the Round of 16, while Al Sadd advances to the quarter-finals to face Vissel Kobe of Japan, continuing their continental journey.
