The Spanish newspaper 'AS' revealed that the Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga has stirred more doubts within Real Madrid after his performance in the Girona match, at a time when the club is considering placing him on the list of players available for sale.

The newspaper explained that Camavinga played in Tchouaméni's position during the Girona match, but he did not deliver the expected performance, as the team relied on him to compensate for the absence of his suspended teammate before facing Bayern Munich in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Real Madrid is preparing for a decisive match on Wednesday in Munich, after losing the first leg 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where the team needs to turn the result around to qualify for the semi-finals.

According to 'AS', Camavinga was one of the main options to occupy the defensive midfield position in the absence of Tchouaméni, but his level against Girona increased the controversy over his role at this stage.

The newspaper pointed out that the player, who joined Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021 for more than 30 million euros, was seen as a young talent capable of developing, and coach Carlo Ancelotti gradually relied on him until he delivered good performances, most notably in the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

However, the same source confirmed that Camavinga's level this season has noticeably declined, which was evident in more than one match, including the Mallorca encounter, where coach Arbeloa indirectly pointed to a defensive error that caused a goal, and also against Girona when he was slow to react to the opponent's goal.

Despite his accurate passing against Girona with 58 successful passes out of 61, he did not contribute effectively offensively, only making 18 passes in the final third and recovering the ball 3 times, which the newspaper considered insufficient performance.

The report added that Real Madrid has begun to take this decline into account, as they may place the player on the list of available for sale in the upcoming summer transfer market, especially with interest from major clubs, primarily Paris Saint-Germain, who are monitoring his situation.
