Saturday 11-04-2026
Al Ahly Club submitted an official appeal to the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association and the Grievances Committee of the Egyptian Football Association, objecting to the decisions issued regarding the events of the match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the league.

The sanctions included suspending Al Ahly's goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy for 4 matches with a financial penalty of 50,000 pounds, in addition to a 2,500-pound fine for being sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the same match.

The association also decided to suspend Walid Salah El-Din, the football director, for one match and fined him 5,000 pounds for receiving a third warning. Additionally, a financial penalty of 20,000 pounds was imposed on the club due to the technical and administrative staff's failure to stay away from the video technology during case reviews.

Al-Ahly clarified in its statement that it is demanding the cancellation of the issued penalties, asserting the existence of what it described as "animosity" from the match referee. It pointed out that it filed a complaint against him to the Disciplinary Committee following incidents of verbal abuses and physical pushing towards some team players, including Mohamed El-Shenawy, Trezeguet, and Hussein El-Shahat.

This step comes as part of the club's objection to the competition committee's decisions regarding the match, awaiting the outcomes of the appeal sessions in the coming period.
