Rebellion of Al-Ittihad Stars Causes Chaos and Puts Conceição on the Verge of Dismissal
Saturday 11-04-2026
Tensions are escalating within the corridors of Al-Ittihad Club following a major crisis between Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao and the team players, amid a decline in results during the recent period of the Roshen League.

Reports indicate that the coach has lost some control within the locker room, which has clearly affected the team's performance, especially following the thrilling loss to Neom with a score of four goals to three.

Despite significant pressure from fans and media, the club's management decided to keep Conceição until the end of the season, preferring technical stability during this critical phase.

Media sources revealed that an important meeting was held during the days of Eid al-Fitr, where the idea of dismissing the coach was discussed, supported by the sporting director Ramon Planes, before the club president Fahd Sindi intervened and insisted on his continuation.

The club president later succeeded in convincing Planes of the risks of changing the coaching staff at this time, leading to the retraction of the idea of dismissal and the temporary support for the coach's continuation.

The crisis was not limited to the management only but extended to the players as well, where Conceição had a direct confrontation with them following the Neom match due to his harsh manner of speaking in the locker room.

This tension prompted several players to express their dissatisfaction to the management, emphasizing the difficulty of continuing under the coach's leadership given the current atmosphere within the team.

The crisis intensified after Conceição left the press conference angrily, refusing to comment on his future, merely describing the speculations surrounding him as mere media conjecture.

It is noted that the coach took charge of the team last October, succeeding the Frenchman Laurent Blanc, but he has not yet managed to achieve the expected results.

In terms of numbers, the team played 28 matches this season, achieving 13 wins and 6 draws, with 9 losses, placing them in sixth position with 45 points.

The upcoming match against Al-Wehda in the AFC Champions League for the elite stands as a crucial test that could determine Conceição's fate amid tense atmospheres within the club.
