Atletico Madrid Condemns Attack on Its Bus in Barcelona
Thursday 09-04-2026
Before the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona at Camp Nou, the visiting team's bus was involved in an unfortunate accident upon arriving at the stadium, as reported by "Mundo Deportivo" newspaper.

The Atlético bus was attacked by some extremist fans of the Catalan club, who threw solid objects at it, resulting in the breaking of two windows on the bus. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the delegation members, but it caused a shock to the team before entering the stadium, noting that the team's hotel was less than five minutes away from the stadium.

This incident follows a similar experience a few weeks ago during the second leg of the King's Cup semi-final, where no injuries were reported either. However, it underscores the ongoing risks to visiting teams' delegations upon arriving at the stadium.

Atlético Madrid expressed its discontent with the incident after the match through a message posted on the team's official social media accounts, sarcastically addressing the American space agency "NASA": "We also saw the dark side of the moon tonight, NASA," accompanied by an image of the bus's broken glass, in a message reflecting the team's anger over the attack.
