Wednesday 08-04-2026
The end of the match between Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra witnessed a state of tension after Mohamed El-Shenawy, Al Ahly's goalkeeper and team captain, was sent off following the final whistle.

According to reports, El Shenawy received two consecutive warnings for objecting to the referee's decisions, which led to a red card being shown to him, despite not participating in the match and sitting on the bench, while Mostafa Shobeir played as a starter.

The disciplinary decisions extended beyond the match, as the referee issued a yellow card to Mostafa Shobeir, along with a warning to Walid Salah El-Din, the club's football director, amidst the tense atmosphere following the game.

On the other hand, the ranks of Ceramica Cleopatra were not free from penalties, as the incident saw the expulsion of Wael Raafat, the load planner, and Amin Omar Nour, the assistant coach, during the video review in injury time, in addition to warnings for head coach Ali Maher and goalkeeping coach Mostafa Fathi.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw in the first round of the second phase of the Egyptian League, raising Al Ahly's tally to 41 points in third place, behind the leaders Zamalek and second-placed Pyramids, ahead of their anticipated match against Smouha next Saturday at Cairo Stadium.
